Publicity - The Clothing Exchange

The perks of working for The Clothing Exchange is that I am often able to be part take in photoshoots and publicity. The photographer was an interesting character and the shot was taken in Retro Star, Nicholson Building in the CBD, Melbourne.

Style Melbourne Shoot

Style Melbourne sent out a request for designers for a photoshoot. So i thought I'd try my luck and here is the end result. The shoot was a collaborative effort to show the talents of photographers, make-up artists, designers and the like. Please see below photos and visit:

My day job- The Clothing Exchange

As well as working on Lydra, I work for The Clothing Exchange which is an initiative that promotes swapping clothes rather then throwing them away. So as part of my job I organise clothing swaps in Melbourne and below are some photos of my recent swap. For more information check out www.clothingexchange.com.au

Bellingen- Northern NSW- Photography

I had a lovely retreat to Bellingen in Northern NSW in my June winter break. I spent the week relaxing, soaking up the sun, going on walks in the rainforest and conversing with the locals.

A Fashion Parade with a difference!

As part of the Fashion Gala 2010 this year I was able to enter in some of my lovely fashion outfits. I only decided 3 weeks prior that I would enter this event. With no ideas, no dresses, no models, I was put to the test to see what I could invent and put together in a short space of time.

Below are the makings of the outfits, they were based on emotions, explosive thoughts, details, geometric shapes and bursting with colour.

Long time between posting!

Well I have lost sight of my blog lately and have decided to get back on the blog bandwagon. What has happenend in the last year?

Where to start?

In a nutshell Lydra has taken off, with lots of lovely new products such as coin purses, metal clutches, travel wallets, passport covers and large clutches. A great website (www.lydra.com.au) and many interstate shops on board. After winning the RMIT Business Plan Competition- Portmans Fashion and Textile prize it was evident that a little bit of hardwork can go a long way.

With the $5,000 going towards a new industrial sewing machine, a laptop, a digital camera and the website. Lydra was well setup! I have also been in the Fashion Gala, started making millinery and am to be in Marie Claire soon!

So stay tuned for many exciting things to come!

Playing around with Clutch purses

Sunday afternoon I had a bit of spare time up my sleeve so I have been playing around with how to make clutch purses. A purse that is good for when you are heading out on the town and can hold your mobile, cash and make-up.

This is what I came up with:

The design is still very much in progress but it came up pretty well. I have decided that I am going to source fabrics from OP shops. So any old shirts, table clothes, bed sheets(for the lining), old buttons to put the purses together.
Here is what I found at my local OP shop:
